TVF visit Clarendon Primary Center to see the impact of the new playground structure

Published: 01 July 2024

We were delighted to visit Clarendon Primary Centre in Hampton to see and hear just how big a difference the new playground structure is making and we are proud to have awarded a grant of £13,000 towards it.

Clarendon is a day special primary centre for pupils aged 4 -11 with moderate learning difficulties and additional complex needs including Autism with 50 places usually in classes of around 12. The team work together to provide the best education and pastoral care to ensure that Clarendon is a place of learning for everyone.

The previous playground structure (on the left) was  not fit for purpose and was unsuitable for the primary aged pupils who use the playground at least three times per day. It was too big in scale, too small in capacity and did not meet the physical or developmental needs of many of the pupils.

The new custom play structure (on the right)  has been designed with the needs and the safety of the young learners as the focus with lots of flexibility and space for wheelchair users to access it too.

If you know a family,  a special needs school or community group in the local area that needs mobility equipment or accessible transport please ask them to get in touch enquiries@thevictoriafoundation.org.uk
